Conference Championship Preview | News Article by squatchpicks.com

An amazing college football regular season has come to an end, and we set our sights on the Conference Championships that will be happening this weekend that will affect the Playoff race.

Starting on Friday, we get to watch games with major implications. There will be four games that will decide the final four for the College Football Playoffs.

There look to be 3 teams that should be locked to make it, but in reality, this season has had a ton of surprises and it won’t shock anyone for these teams to lose and cause chaos in the streets. We’ll focus on the ones that matter.

The ACC Championship features a limping North Carolina Tar Heels team and a wounded Clemson team. The appeal nationally is completely gone as North Carolina lost to NC State and Clemson lost to South Carolina.

The winner gets to go to a New Years’ Six Bowl. Yay!

Starting Friday night we have the PAC-12 Championship. USC is getting the opportunity to avenge their only loss of the season when they face Utah. USC is favored by 2.5 and they have the Heisman front-runner USC needs to win this game to lock in their spot in the playoff.

If they don’t get the job done, then the fourth spot is WIDE open.

The Big 12 Title game also has major playoff implications. TCU (-2.5) is facing the Kansas State Wildcats. The Horned Frogs have had tiger blood this season, avoiding upset after upset including against Kansas State when QB Adrian Martinez left the game with an injury, and backup Will Howard was also knocked out. If TCU survives this one, they will be in the Playoff to represent the Big 12.

Saturday afternoon we get the pleasure of watching the mighty Big Ten West Represented by Purdue take on the sadly weak Big Ten East Champ Michigan… I kid, as the west has been a disaster this season and Michigan shows up for this game after dominating Ohio State yet again.

Michigan is favored by 16 points in this one, and it could get ugly fast. Purdue can score, but I doubt that they can keep this close.

The Final power five game has also lost a bit of luster as LSU is coming into this game beaten down after getting thumped by a bad Texas AM team. Georgia is coming into this game as the far-and-away favorite to win the national title again.

Georgia is going to make this playoff no matter what, but they want to continue to roll. LSU has been a Jekyll and Hyde team this year, incredible at times and horrific at others. If they show, up they have the talent to scare the Bulldogs.

The Squatchpicks.com simulation model, which simulates every Football game thousands’ of times, is up +47.65 units over the last three years. We have released 520 total games with 284 WINS and 236 losses ATS for a win % of 54.62%. A $100 bettor of our NCAAF would have netted a profit of $4,765 and, a $1,000 bettor would have won $47,650 just on Football. We have released only a small number of NCAAF games so far this season.
