The odds makers have the NFC West expected to finish the same as last season with the 49ers, who went 13-4 last season and come in as a heavy favorite to win the division again. The Seahawks are projected second, and the Rams third. Let’s look at my betting OVER/UNDER win total betting predictions for the NFC West with the odds provided by Fan Duel.
Arizona Cardinals UNDER 4.5 wins (-120)
The Cardinals are coming off a 4-13 mark from 2022 and are in even more of a rebuilding process coming into this season. Although the Cardinals had a solid draft, it will not be enough to make the substantial immediate impact that this roster needs.
Arizona is less talented on paper than they were last season after star wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins has moved on, along with defensive end Chandler Jones, center Rodney Hudson, and corner Byron Murphy Jr. The Cardinals will also miss the leadership of JJ Watt, who has retired.
With quarterback Kyler Murray still working to come back from last season’s ACL injury, I believe the Cardinals will contend for the worst record in football.
Arizona Cardinals -120 |
Los Angeles Rams +110 |
Seattle Seahawks +116 |
San Francisco 49ers -162 |
Los Angeles Rams OVER 6.5 ( 110)
The Los Angeles Rams have already lost key defensive players, Bobby Wagner and Jalen Ramsey, and future Hall of Famer Aaron Donald seems to be a lock to be traded. Even with the transitions to the roster, Sean McVay is one of the best coaches in the NFL, and he’ll find a way to get the most out of his players.
The Rams have a young roster that will be hungry, and a healthy Matthew Stafford and Cooper Kupp will be tough for any defense to contain. Los Angeles will be more competitive than expected in the NFC West.
The schedule has several winnable non-division games as well, which includes a road meeting against the Colts and home contests against the Steelers, Browns, Commanders, and Saints. Expect this overlooked squad to win at least seven games.
Seattle Seahawks UNDER 8.5 ( 116)
The Seahawks will have a tough draw of road matchups against the Lions, Giants, Bengals, Ravens, and Cowboys on the schedule, along with a home showdown against the Eagles on Dec. 17. Home games against the Browns, Commanders, and Steelers will be winnable, but still tough to see Seattle running the table in.
With such a difficult non-conference schedule, there will be little room for error in the NFC West, and I see the Rams likely stealing a game from Seattle this season. I will take the under for plus money, with Seattle finishing 8-9.
Year-Winner-Record (Odds to Win)
San Francisco 49ers OVER 10.5 (-162)
The roster has lost some talent, and the holdout of the 2022 Defensive Player of the Year Nick Bosa’s holdout is not ideal, but this is still by far the best team in the division. The 49ers went 6-0 against fellow NFC West foes last season, and it’s hard to picture them dropping more than one game in the division this season.
The schedule is manageable, and quarterback Brock Purdy looks to be ready to go for Week 1. Although I don’t see the 49ers reaching 13 wins again, they will not fall far enough from grace to fail to reach 11 wins.
