Public Betting Splits For Preseason NFL Week 1 | News Article by squatchpicks.com

With the NFL preseason starting to heat up, there are two opening games to open up the season on Thursday Night Football and you could use the direction of the public to place your bets.

Looking at the first game of the head-to-head, it’s the Houston Texans traveling to take on the New England Patriots. The Texans hold the line in their favor with 1.5-points on the spread. Although they are favored, the action is coming in on the Patriots to cover the spread with a massive 85% of total bets being placed and 85% of the betting handle.

Even on the moneyline, the Patriots are favored according to the public with 69% of bets and 55% of money being bet. As for the 38.5-point total, the over seems to be the play with 84% of the betting slips and a whopping 73% of the money.

As for New England, they’ve also trended towards the under in two of their three games and have lost two of their last three preseason games by more than 1.5 points failing to cover the spread.

Although both teams have been horrendous in the preseason each losing all three of their preseason games last season, you could count on them to have a high-scoring affair. Last season, Minnesota hit over 35 points in two of their games while the Seahawks went over in all three of their preseason games.

With this being the start of the preseason, using public splits to place your bets is always a useful tool.
